GOALS
Goal 1: Lifelong Literacy

To promote and encourage the growth of reading as a
lifelong accomplishment for the citizenry of
·
To promote and encourage the growth of literacy on
all levels by networking with other professional organizations and the State
Department of Education.

To form partnerships with business and industry and
other non-educational organizations to promote family and workplace literacy.
·
To address the problems facing literacy through
classroom teachers.
·
To encourage research, the work of appropriate
standing committees, and grants to classroom teachers.
Goal 2: Professional Development
·
To encourage the professional growth of educators in
the area of literacy, especially reading.
·
To maintain a recognition program for members for
outstanding service to TRA, IRA, and the local councils.
·
To support local councils by acting as a resource
for program planning, problem solving, and membership growth and development.
Goal 3: Advocacy
·
To promote policies, practices, and procedures that
support literacy.
·
To foster partnerships with organizations which
share an interest in promoting literacy and related educational issues.
Goal 4: Awards

To continue to complete requirements for the
following awards:
Award of Excellence
President’s Award
President’s Club
Student Membership Achievement Award
