International Reading Association Special Service Award
Hoyte M. Snow was awarded the IRA Special Service Award on May 13, 2007 at the IRA International Conference in Toronto. Hoyte has been a teacher, principal, and director of middle schools in the Nashville Public Schools system for 38 years. He has been active in the Middle Tennessee Reading Association, TRA and IRA since 1967, serving in numerous leadership roles including chair of the 1980 Southeastern Regional Conference, cochair of the Combined Great Lakes and Southeastern Regional Conference, member of the editorial advisory board of The Reading Teacher, President of TRA, and IRA State Coordinator for Tennessee.
